"Another excellent acoustic track...[Comer] dances all over the strings with shimmering note flurries and dynamic flair...."

"It is the very inability of the critic to easily hem her into a box that points to Tracy Comer's magnificent songwriting abilities..."

Pathetic Fallacy

© 2004 music and lyrics by Tracy Jane Comer

[Tracy plays on piano, key of Eb]

Seven sisters, ever running, ever crying
tears of beauty, pearls of light up in the sky
There’s strong Orion, in pursuit across all time
wielding arrows, at once so close and far behind
And a world of hopeful dreamers looking into the night
casting their wishes to these lights
And all those sisters, ever frenzied in their flight
never notice all those dreamers in the night

Here in quiet futility, I cast my own wish on Pleiades
That all I now believe won’t prove to be pathetic fallacy

Fragile balance between hope and fantasy...
naïve notions of how life’s supposed to be
I stand idle, pondering mythology
strain my eyes…where does that vanishing point lead?
So much there beyond my periphery
so much hurt outside of what I choose to see
And all the wisdom of the ages can’t explain
why things happen time and time and time and time again

Still, in my futility, I will cast this wish on Pleiades
That all I now believe won’t prove to be pathetic fallacy
